Zoo knew?

Obligatory posed group shot -- on top of a monarch caterpillar statue

It's been years since I've gone to the zoo, and I am very impressed by the new habitats there. I've often left the zoo slightly depressed, contemplating such magnificent creatures reduced to motionless balls of fur in the corner of a sky-blue painted box. But this time was different. Never before have I seen the animals so active! My children and I spent a delightful spring day watching monkeys chatter, the gorilla scout, penguins jump, elephants grasp, bears scuffle, zebras roll and the peacock unfurl. Thank you to our great friends for inviting us to come!

Elise daintily portrays a turtle.

Emma compares her armspan to the gorilla's.

James plugs his nose in protest at the penguins -- and this was an outdoor exhibit! You should have seen his nasal grip inside the tropical house.

The zoo view Mom saw most: Samuel running off

This amused me!

I gave the camera to Kyle to take a picture of Samuel while I held him on the carousel. First the self-portrait, then the requested shot: (good job, Kyle!)
